Ambit magazine - I contributed many poems and a story, since the late seventies, to its indefatigable and extraordinary editor Martin Bax. For one of the latest, 'Capture rapture', on Iraq, see my blog, and four new poems to come.

Poetry Wales - edited by Robert Minhinnick. I contribute poems regularly, the latest is 'Home leave.'

Stand Magazine - I was one of two judges in Stand's last poetry competition. Among the poems Stand published of mine, I was particularly pleased that Jon Silkin, its brilliant founding editor, took on 'The named land', a long difficult poem about Israel and the OPTs (occupied Palestinian territories).

Mimi Khalvati - The poem featured here 'Seeing what you made' is in 'Plant Care', a festchrift for this fine poet of light.

The Frogmore Papers - Journal of new writing. I judged their 2003 Poetry Competition as well contributing poems, including a long extract from my translation, In Cyclops Cave.

PROSE

Banipal - Invaluable journal of literature in translation from the contemporary Arab world, including many writers in its farflung diaspora.  See there my own reviews (fiction and poetry); one is included here under Prose Reviews.

Saqi Books - notable for holding not only its very own publishing balance between east and west, but also for fabulous and friendly launch parties in an age of literary less. Saqi published my novel 'Of love and Terror' in 2002. See too for sadly lost, much loved Mai Ghoussob's Selected Essays (wonderful) and for Aamer Hussein's brilliant, under your skin stories. See 'Lebanon Lebanon', an anthology of many concerned writers (which included my poem The Refugee). It fundraised for children's charities after 2006 when Israel bombed Beirut - including Saqi's own warehouse.  Telegram Books now publish Saqi's British writers.
